Beginning Polymer Clay


  • Beginning Polymer Clay

  • For the new to polymer clay folks….use our materials and supplies for no
    extra fee.  You will learn the fundamentals and what you might be able
    to create with the medium.  It is a very versatile medium for 2 and 3
    dimensional artwork.  Time will be spent working with the polymer clay
    by learning to blend the colors and seeing the various tools you might
    need to work with to become proficient with the polymer clay.

  • You will see immediate results from
  • your first session with us.  You may
  • wish to bring a smooth surface to work
  • on…like a ceramic tile, as well as an
  • X-acto knife and a hard roller if you
  • have it.  We can share.  As you
  • progress with your skills, you may
  • wish to join the polymer clay group
  • that meets monthly to advance their
  • techniques.  It is becoming a very
  • popular medium with many
  • techniques to learn and enjoy.
  • You may also find some of the
  • techniques and even the clay useful
  • in your other mediums.  You will
  • certainly find your other mediums useful with polymer clay!  

  • Basic cane making will be covered in the beginning class, as well as
    textures, impressions, and molding.

  • You should be able to make items like the photos after the first class.  
    Then you can advance to more sophisticated techniques like mokume
    gane, transfers, mica shifts, faux stones, etc. which will be covered in
    more advanced classes as students progress.
